Federal, state, and local contracting deserves better tooling.
The United States federal government awards something north of $700 billion in prime contracts every year. The tools small and mid-size contractors use to find the work that matches their firm are, with very few exceptions, keyword search dressed up in a 2012 SaaS chrome. VectorBrief is our attempt at what the modern version looks like.
What we believe.
Explainability is the product, not a feature. Any tool that ranks opportunities without showing the reasoning is asking contractors to trust a black box with their bid/no-bid decisions. That is an unreasonable ask in a market where a missed opportunity costs months of pipeline and a bad-fit pursuit costs the price of a proposal. We show the reason for every score because it is the only way the tool earns usage past the first week.
Federal, state, and local — one tool. Public-sector procurement is fragmented across agencies, states, counties, school districts, and education co-ops. Most tools cover one slice. We cover the whole surface and apply the same per-factor scoring to all of it, because firms that sell into public sector at all rarely sell into only one tier of it.
Trust is the slowest thing to earn in GovCon. The firms we want to serve spend real money on every pursuit and have been burned before by tools that over-promised. We would rather win one customer who stays for three years than three customers who leave after six months. The product, the pricing, and the support posture are built around that.
